Honest disclosures on how LilUtils interacts with public scientific and government data services.
LilUtils Explore strictly uses endpoints that require zero registration, user accounts, or private API keys. However, public APIs are not infinite: providers enforce fair-use concurrency thresholds to protect their non-profit and government servers.
All requests run directly in your browser. To avoid repetitive network calls and respect provider bandwidth, responses are cached in your local session for conservative periods (e.g., 2m for earthquake feeds, 15m for weather forecasts, 24h for ephemeris tables).
If a public provider returns an HTTP 429 status (Too Many Requests), our client extracts the official Retry-After header and renders a clean countdown timer instead of crashing or retrying aggressively.
